The Hohe Salve is one of Tyrol’s most beautiful mountains offering panoramic views and is one of the region’s most popular destinations. Easily accessible by mountain railway, a breathtaking 360° panorama awaits you at 1,829 metres above sea level, offering views of over 70 three-thousand-metre peaks.

Aurach Wildlife Park

Just a 20-minute drive from Westendorf lies the Aurach Wildlife Park – a popular day-out destination for the whole family. Set amidst the impressive Tyrolean mountain landscape, you can observe over 200 native and Alpine wild animals, such as red deer, fallow deer, ibex, mouflon, lynx and yaks, at close quarters.

The extensive circular trail leads through natural enclosures and offers stunning views of the Kitzbühel Alps at every turn. A petting zoo and play areas make the wildlife park an unforgettable experience, particularly for families with children.

Krimml Waterfalls

The Krimml Waterfalls are among the most impressive natural spectacles in Europe and can be reached from Westendorf in around 50 minutes by car. With a total drop of 380 metres, the water plunges down into the valley in three mighty cascades, creating an unforgettable experience of nature.

A well-maintained footpath leads along the waterfalls to numerous viewing points, from which you can experience the roaring natural spectacle at close quarters. Along the way, cosy places to stop for refreshments invite you to take a break and offer magnificent views of the imposing waterfalls.

Schwarzsee

Schwarzsee, near Kitzbühel, is one of Tyrol’s most beautiful mountain lakes and can be reached from Westendorf in just about 20 minutes by car. Nestled in a picturesque landscape, the lake offers a magnificent view of the Wilder Kaiser and the Kitzbühel Alps.

In summer, the Schwarzsee’s pleasant water temperatures make it the perfect spot for a dip, a swim and some relaxation. An idyllic circular walk leads right along the shore and is perfect for a leisurely stroll. Stand-up paddleboarding, pedal boating or a visit to the lakeside restaurant also make the trip a special experience.

Kitzbüheler Horn

The Kitzbüheler Horn is one of Tyrol’s most beautiful mountains offering panoramic views and can be reached from Westendorf in around 30 minutes by car. Whether you take the mountain railway or drive along the famous Kitzbüheler Horn Panorama Road, the journey up offers impressive views of the surrounding mountains.

At the summit, you’ll find wonderful hiking trails, cosy alpine huts and numerous vantage points offering spectacular views of the Kitzbühel Alps, the Wilder Kaiser and the Hohe Tauern. A particular highlight is the Kitzbüheler Horn Alpine Garden, one of the highest alpine flower gardens in Europe, boasting a fascinating variety of native mountain plants.
